Actress Tara Reid has spoken out about a frightening incident that took place at a Chicago hotel bar, where she claims her drink was spiked, leading to her being hospitalized and unconscious for several hours.

The star, best known for her role in American Pie, shared the distressing details during an interview on TMZ Live. She expressed profound relief that she was not sexually assaulted during the ordeal, which she described as a traumatic event.

According to Reid, she visited the hotel bar around 10:30 PM on a Saturday and was transported to the hospital before midnight, ultimately regaining consciousness about eight hours later. She recounted leaving her glass of wine briefly unattended. Upon returning, she noticed a napkin covering the glass—a napkin she confirmed she had not placed there. After taking a few more sips of the wine, she quickly lost consciousness.

Video footage acquired by TMZ shows the actress, around 12:30 AM, visibly disoriented and needing assistance to be guided into a wheelchair in the hotel lobby. Later clips show paramedics placing her on a stretcher and into an ambulance shortly before 1:00 AM. During the incident, a visibly confused Reid can be heard saying, "You don’t know who I am. I am famous. I’m an actress."

Hospital staff reportedly informed her that she had been "drugged," though Reid noted the explanation was vague and she did not ask for further details. The actress, who has been open about past struggles with substance use, stressed that she consumed only a single glass of wine that evening.

Reid’s representative confirmed the seriousness of the situation in a statement, saying the actress is attempting to file a police report concerning the suspected tampering of her drink and is cooperating fully with authorities.

The actress’s representative relayed a request to Us Weekly, stating that "**Tara** is recovering and requires privacy during this traumatic experience." Furthermore, the representative issued a public safety advisory, urging everyone to "exercise caution, monitor their beverages, and never abandon them," as this type of incident "can affect anyone." The representative added that Reid would not be making further public comments at this time.

Sources close to the actress stated she was in Chicago for Comic-Con at the time of the incident. An insider mentioned that some YouTubers who noticed her at the bar may have captured footage. The source also detailed her brief smoke break outside, during which she left her glass of wine at the bar, only to return to find the suspicious napkin placed over it. The insider added that the actress "took a couple [of] sips and the next thing she remembered was waking up in the hospital," where her agent picked her up.

The insider noted that Reid is "really freaked out by the whole thing." The actress, who rose to fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s in films like The Big Lebowski and Cruel Intentions, is reportedly back in Los Angeles now, recovering from the ordeal.
